Different love(s)

Casey and I went out on our own during her half term a couple of weeks ago. She behaved really well and listened to what I said all the time. I was really proud of her. Normally I would like daddy to come out with us so I can have help when required. She surprised me by doing what she was asked for during our time out together.

She suddenly turned around and told me that she loved mummy a lot. A lovely sensation went through my heart and body and I felt euphoric. Thinking that all the hard work was worth it. Only a minute later we walked passed a Macdonald's and Casey said to me she loved apple pie too...... oh bo.

Best Friend or Not

22/03/2010

When we woke up in the morning last saturday, Casey seemed to be in a very good mood. I wondered if there was anything to do with the weekend. She knew she didn't have to hurry for her breakfast or anything else. She could just sit back and relax.

While we were sitting down on the sofa during breakfast, Casey said that she was my best friend. Mummy was really happy and felt loved by her little girl. Whilst I was still enjoying the special bond and giving her a big hug, Casey told me to get back to my place. My world just crumbled around me. Back to reality......

Belonging With

Mummy was doing some fun games in an exercise book with Casey the other day. We were asked to find out what subject belong with the one in question. Bless her, Casey did really well but one(?!). A seal was perching on a stand and we had to decide whether it would belong with a chair or the sea. She picked the chair and said when it gets tired the seal can then sit on it. I didn't know what to say. It was perfectly logical with her way of thinking and explanation.

I just like how children's mind work. There is often no perception of any kind, simple, innocent and straight forward. I also sometimes adore they speak their mind. How better it would be if adults would do the same.

Wishes

Casey said to mummy in the car on the way to school this morning that she didn't want to be young any more. I didn't quite know how to take it and told her that she was only just three years old. When asking her more on the comment she explained that she would like to be a mother with eleven children. They would all be living in a big igloo. However, she wouldn't be able to look after them all and would like another lady to help her.... Where did all this come from? My mind couldn't travel as fast as hers.

Jacket Potato

Casey never liked potatoes when she was a baby. Tried every single way of cooked potatos with her but to no avail except the big "M" french fries. She would just spit it out whether it was mashed, roasted, boiled, sauted or oven cooked. I was just thinking how can she not like potatoes when we are living in this country. Billions of the spuds are eaten every year by the Brits.

Anyway I baked some jacket potatoes at home yesterday and miracle happened. Casey liked it and finished quite a bit. Mummy's jaw dropped and couldn't believe it.

13/2/2010 - I'm polishing my nails

Casey is growing up fast, very fast, as this morning she told daddy that brushing teeth had to wait because she is painting her toenails blue and green. Furthermore, that she couldn't wear her slippers whilst she was brushing teeth as her nails had to dry and that afterwards she would do her fingernails. This was all pretend of course, but she has a good imagination, just look at the picture to see what she used as nail polish. You guessed it, blue and green cap bottles, where else would she get "nail polish" to paint her nails green and blue. I do like the colours chosen, don't you ??

11/2/2010 - Are there any gentleman apples?

We had just made a fruit salad after dinner and mummy was telling Casey what she had put into the fruit salad. As mummy explained that there were pink lady apples in the fruit salad, a very innocent Casey asked "Are there any gentleman apples?" at which point mummy told her without trying to laugh that there weren't any gentleman apples.

10/2/2010 - Casey is star of the day at school

When daddy was picking up Casey from school, he noticed that Caseys' picture wasn't on the happy sun (for being a good girl) or on the sad cloud (for being a naughty girl). After looking a bit further, he found her on the star of the day. Upon asking Casey if she was star of the day, she replied that she was and that she was a good girl and helped Mrs Werrett to tidy up the classroom. That night, Casey asked daddy to make a happy sun and sad cloud to put in the living room. After drawing them, Casey's picture was put on the happy sun because she was such a good girl at school and at home that day.

Routine

Casey has started at nursery for just over five months and she is now used to the routine of having school for five days a week and then two days off at home. When it comes to Saturday, she often spends it with grandparents as mummy and daddy are both at work in the morning. She is often asked where she would like to go and the answer is often "London".

She went to London for a few times and everytime she just enjoyed herself a lot. She was fascinated by what the big city had to offer; busy lifestyle, lots of double-deckers, upper and under ground trains and plenty of shops and visiting places.

Been away for a long time

It's the first time since a long long while ago when we had the last entry. Life's been a little bit chaotic in our household. Hopefully, we are now back to some normality.

Despite what has been happening, Casey seems to thrive as normal as one would expect. Children amaze and outdo our grown-ups far more than we can imagine sometimes. Their abilty to adapt to different situations just gains my admiration.

She is doing really well at school and seems to be enjoying reading and writing. Sometimes I only have to explain to her the pronounciation of some words once or twice and then she can remember them. Having said that I sometimes believe she can actually remember a whole story and just kind of recite it.

She had a "my pet's week" at school a fortnight ago. As we haven't got any, Casey had to treat "Kitty Cat" the plush toy as one. She admires her and loves to take her everywhere whenever she can. She painted her and told the teachers she likes to take her to bed every night. She also decided that Kitty Cat should share her birthday on the same day as her. Looks like Casey has just found her "twin".
